Prior to becoming a counsellor, I spent some time working in customer service, corporate training and technical writing, and then spent more than ten years as a full-time parent. During my at-home-parent years, I was active in the attachment parenting and homeschooling communities, and did some freelance writing and volunteering in those areas as well. I also came face-to-face with my own stuff, and started learning about trauma, attending personal growth workshops and starting my own counselling as a client. Now that I'm sitting in the other chair as a counsellor, I ground myself in the foundation of empathy, resonant language, and compassion that I learned at that time. I work with adult individuals and couples, on issues including depression and anxiety, abuse and trauma, anger management, grief and loss, life transitions and relationship challenges. |

Returning to school in 2014, after raising a family and supporting my husband in our independent distribution business, I realized a life-long dream of mine – to become a Registered Professional Counsellor. Working with women who are looking to be supported by a trauma informed, strength based, integrative counsellor with strong coaching skills, in their journey to wholeness is the place where I am most helpful. A passion for personal development, lifelong learning, as well as a life of varied experiences, have resulted in the building of a tool kit of effective resources to share and equip you with. I place a high value on meeting you where you are – not where you used to be or where you are hoping to be, but in the here and now. Whatever that place may be. That stuck place. That messy place. That scary place. That ‘I never thought I would be here’ place. Places like depression, grief and loss, low self-esteem, anxiety, fear, feeling lost or overwhelmed. Research tells us that much of our lives, about half, are lived in transitions that we are not equipped for; are unexpected and/or that completely derail us. Fortunately, we can learn the skills to navigate life’s challenges and work through the emotional fallout. I believe that for the woman who engages in the necessary, oftentimes challenging, work involved, there is every possibility of change, to create a preferred future, to pursue purpose and wholeness. |
