Child Development |
Our knowledge of children’s developmental needs has come a long way in recent years. Where we once believed that children were miniature adults, we now know that their cognitive and psychological capacities have a process of development that occurs over a span of about 18 years. Research has taught us about bonding and attachment, identity development, self-esteem, gender awareness, and socialization… as well as how wounds are created when the environment fails to nurture the child through these stages. As an adult, you cannot go back and change your childhood, but counselling can certainly help to facilitate a process of healing from it… which can in turn help protect your children from experiencing the fallout from this often negative generational chain.
